About Us
Sanctuary of Change, Inc. is a non-profit organization founded by Dr. Gail K. James and is dedicated to supporting individuals who have experienced childhood abuse by a family member and/or are victims of Domestic Violence. At the forefront of our mission is Sibling Sexual Abuse USA, the pioneering initiative of its kind in the United States.
We are dedicated to supporting individuals in need of sanctuary from harrowing experiences of childhood sexual abuse and/or domestic violence with a clear mission to be a beacon of strength and support for survivors.
Our Founder
Dr. Gail James
Dr. James is the survivor of childhood sexual abuse and domestic violence. Her story sends chills up one's spine along with the wonder of the miracle of not only her survival, but also of her tenacity, resilience, and the overwhelming joy she shares with all those she comes in contact with. She has taken what was meant to break her and used it to become the strong entrepreneurial minded women that she is today.
She is a luminary with a remarkable legacy spanning over two-decades in psychology, counseling, and corporate wellness. Her journey, marked by a Ph.D. in Psychology and certifications in emotional intelligence, resilience training, and stress management, blend academic prowess with hands-on practice through her dedication to empowering others to thrive.
With a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, a Master’s in Biblical Studies, and a Ph.D. in Christian Counseling, Dr. James's expertise spans Trauma, Mental Health, Substance Abuse Counseling, and Family Therapy. She serves as a Licensed Clinical Christian Therapist and Motivational Speaker at Dr. James Counseling and Consulting Services and serves at various organizations including Bridges of America, Gateway Community Services, South Rehabilitation Center and is a member of the American Counseling Association. She is a licensed Professional Therapist, recognized by AACT and ACPE and a published author.
